Diversity Hiring Coalition

The Diversity Hiring Coalition of Maine

The Diversity Hiring Coalition (DHC) has rapidly become the leading networking source for employers seeking to hire diverse candidates and for people of diverse backgrounds seeking employment in Maine. Created to provide leadership and resources that help Maine employers increase, support, and retain racial and ethnic diversity in the workplace, the DHC provides win/win opportunities for employers seeking a qualified, diverse workforce and people from diverse racial and ethnic groups who want to live, work, and raise families in Maine.
The Diversity Hiring Coalition is an affiliate of the SHRM Maine State Council, which serves and advances the human resource profession throughout the state. The Diversity Hiring Coalition is an endorsing sponsor of the Maine HR convention.

The DHC just had our annual retreat. The retreat was held in Freeport and it was FANTASTIC!

We had many great presentations. Thank you to Deb Breiting & Elizabeth Greason from Maine Intercultural Communication Consultants, Jennifer Hutchins, from Creative Portland, and Amy Sneirson from the Maine Human Rights Commission.

Networking Event for Professional New Mainers

The DHC & Portland Adult Education is proud to be hosting a Networking Event for Professional New Mainers on November 13, 2014. This will be an opportunity for New Mainers with Professional work experience/credentials from their home countries to interact with DHC members – representatives of the region’s top employers – and further hone their networking and professional job-seeking skills. This is a wonderful opportunity for employers to showcase their own companies, meet with talented foreign-born job seekers one-on-one, and participate in workshops geared towards resume critique, interviewing skills, and more.  This is NOT a job fair – this is an informational networking opportunity.  We hope this will be an annual event for the DHC!

Our Next Meeting...

The final meeting for 2014 will take place on December 16th at Bowdoin College. A portion of our meeting will be spent discussing the book "Out of Nowhere".  This is our book club for 2014. The discussion will be with the book's author, Maria Padian!

Please contact the DHC if you are an HR Professional who is interested in attending.

As the Maine HR Convention celebrates its 20th anniversary, it has become the talk of the HR nation. The convention consistently offers the best keynoters from around the country, creates imaginative, participatory workshops, awards a boatload of re-certification credits, and generates an atmosphere where HR careers and Maine workplaces thrive. This doesn’t happen by accident. Rather, it’s the result of a great collaboration between your host and Maine’s SHRM State Council and eight affiliated chapters. Add the energy of 850+ participants and a showcase of sponsors and vendors, and you have a very good reason to join us at the 2015 Maine HR Convention.  ONLINE REGISTRATION OPENS IN JANUARY!  For more information visit us online at
