Legislature Creates Joint Select Committee on Regulatory Fairness and Reform

Following up on campaign promises to reduce regulatory "red tape," the Maine Legislature has established a Joint Select (i.e., temporary) Committee on Regulatory Fairness and Reform.  Chaired by Senate Majority Leader Jonathan Courtney of York and Rep.Jonathan B. McKane of Newcastle, the Committee will be charged with fleshing out LD 1 - a bill to streamline state government.  Other members named to serve on the Committee include: Senators Christopher Rector (R-Knox), Thomas Saviello (R-Franklin), Justin Alfond (D-Cumberland) and Seth Goodall (D-Sagadahoc), as well as Representatives Dana Dow (R-Waldoboro), Stacey Allen Fitts (R-Pittsfield), Michael McClellan (R-Raymond), James Parker (R-Veazie), Dianne Tilton (R-Harrington), Robert Duchesne (D-Hudson), Michael Carey (D-Lewiston), Sharon Anglin Treat (D-Hallowell), and Linda Valentino (D-Saco).
